Petaquilla Gold, S.A. Moves Toward ICMI Certification
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/14/11 -- Further to its news release of September 22, 2011, Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (TSX: PTQ)(OTCBB: PTQMF)(FRANKFURT: P7Z) (the 'Company') is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Petaquilla Gold, S.A., a signatory of the International Cyanide Management Code (the 'Code'), nears certification by the International Cyanide Management Institute ('ICMI').
Companies that are signatories to the Code must have their operations audited by an independent third party to demonstrate their compliance with the Code. The independent third party technical expert auditor has completed the final review of the Company's gold production operations in order to verify compliance with previously issued recommendations and will, together with the lead auditor, be submitting a report to the ICMI recommending official certification of the Company's Molejon gold project.
Once certified by the ICMI, Petaquilla Gold, S.A. will join only 14 other gold mining companies worldwide possessing this certification. The Code is a voluntary industry program covering the manufacture, transport and use of cyanide in the gold mining industry.
