VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire - June 6, 2011) - Newstrike Capital Inc. (TSX VENTURE: NES) ("Newstrike" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the next series of assay results from the 2011 drill program at the Company's 100%-owned Ana Paula Project, Guerrero Gold Belt (GGB). The drillholes in this release represent results from step out and infill drilling to the east, infill drilling to the north and includes one drill hole that tested the trend of the mineralized breccia unit to the north of previous drill intercepts.

Some of the highlights from this series include:

Drillhole AP-11-47 intercepted a 112.90 meter interval of 2.51 g/t Au, including a 5.18 meter interval of 22.23 g/t Au.

Drillhole AP-11-46 intercepted multiple intervals, some of the better of which include 28.50 meters of 1.21 g/t Au, 22.50 meters of 2.40 g/t Au, and 16.70 meter interval of 1.24 g/t Au.

Drillhole AP-11-40 intercepted 23.90 meters of 2.02 g/t Au that included 12.40 meters of 3.67 g/t Au.

Selected highlights from this series of drill results are presented in the following table. A complete table of mineralized intercepts is available from the company website at www.newstrike.

Drillhole AP-11-47 is an angle hole designed to test and extend the dimensions of the mineralized breccia cut in holes AP-11-19 and AP-11-37, and added an additional 30 meters to the north of AP-11-37, previously reported on April 20th, 2011. The hole intercepted the mineralized breccia starting at 6.10 meters from surface returning a 112.90 meter interval of 2.51 g/t Au that included a 5.18 meter interval of 22.23 g/t Au. Additional drilling is required in this area to test the full extent of mineralization to the north.

Drillholes AP-11-43 and AP-11-46 were both drilled to continue testing the near surface bulk tonnage potential in the northern portion of the Ana Paula deposit that was first identified in drill hole AP-05-05, completed by Goldcorp in 2005. Drillhole AP-11-43 intercepted 24.15 meters grading 0.86 g/t gold while AP-46 intercepted mineralization over a 440.30 meter interval that grades 0.44 g/t Au including some zones below the 0.2 g/t Au cutoff protocol. This is comparable to the interval in AP-05-05 that assayed 414.3 meters of 0.567 g/t Au, also without following protocol (see Lunceford, NI43-101 report, June 26, 2010 available on www.sedar.com). Some of the better intervals from AP-11-46 that do follow protocol include 28.50 meters of 1.21 g/t Au, 22.50 meters of 2.40 g/t Au, and a 16.70 meter interval of 1.24 g/t Au.

Drillhole AP-11-40 through 45, excluding AP-11-43, are 100 meter infill and step out holes located in the northeastern quadrant of the project area that tested the eastern boundary of mineralization at Ana Paula and followed up on intercepts from Goldcorp's 2005 drill program. All drill holes in this series intercepted gold mineralization that is primarily intrusion hosted or that occurs in altered sedimentary rocks near the contacts with the intrusive rocks. Drillholes AP-11-40 and 42 were the better holes intercepting 23.90 meters of 2.02 g/t Au and 53.96 meters grading 0.89 g/t Au respectively. Drillhole-11-44 was the weakest hole in this series of drillholes, intercepting an 8.50 meter interval of 0.80 g/t Au.

A table of selected drill results of assays greater than 0.5 g/t Au over 5.0 meters.

Exploration drilling of the mineralized breccia unit first discovered in AP-10-19 indicates that it is an irregularly shaped body that seems to conform to the general stratigraphy seen at Ana Paula, but also locally appears to crosscut it and may have formed along a fault zone. The breccia contains variable percentages of fragments of both intrusive rocks and hornfels with a matrix rich in sulfide minerals, mainly pyrite and arsenopyrite, and appears to be of both intrusive and hydrothermal origin. This breccia body is surrounded by an envelope of strongly mineralized rocks consisting of limestone, hornfels and intrusive rocks with some breccia.

Further drilling is required to fully define the extent of the mineralization observed at Ana Paula. The next drillholes now underway have begun drilling a series of fans focused on defining the dimensions of the mineralized breccia unit. Additional step out holes to the west are in the planning stages, pending completion of access roads into this area. Infill and step out drilling will continue as the 2011 drill program progresses. To date, only the easternmost portion of a 1.0 by 2.0 kilometer surface gold anomaly that defines the Ana Paula exploration target has been tested with a series of widely spaced drillholes on approximate 100.0 meter centers along north-south fences and at 50-100 meter along the east-west sections.

All reported drill intercepts are downhole lengths. Holes drilled from west to east at -45˚ angles are nearly perpendicular to the perceived strike and dip of the sedimentary geology, thus are interpreted as a close approximation of true width; however, true width of the mineralization is not accurately known at this time. The Ana Paula Project is central to Newstrike's 88,000 hectares in the GGB and forms part of a district scale mining camp that is host to Torex Gold's advanced 'Morelos Project' and to Goldcorp's producing 'Los Filos' project.

Ken Thorsen, a director of the company and a qualified person under NI43-101 has reviewed the contents of this press release. The drill program and all project operations are conducted under the direction and supervision of Dr. Craig Gibson, PhD, CPG and a qualified person under NI43-101. Dr. Gibson has reviewed the contents of this press release.

QA-QC:

The mineralized intervals in core tend to be separated by "barren" intervals that may or may not contain narrow anomalous sections and local high-grade spikes that are not included in the calculations of mineralized intervals. Unless specified otherwise, reported intercepts are calculated according to a protocol that uses a 0.2 g/t Au cutoff for bounding assays. Reported grade intervals are based on the original uncut assay certificates as received from the assay labs. They do not include check assays pending at the time of reporting.

Newstrike maintains strict QA-QC protocols for all aspects of their exploration programs that include the systematic insertion of blanks and standards into each sample batch. Analyses in this release were performed by ALS Chemex. All samples are assayed using the respective laboratories certified and industry standard assay techniques for gold and multi-element packages and for over limits; Au was analyzed by 50 gram fire assay with an atomic absorption finish, and other elements were analyzed by multi-element ICP packages.
