Ditem Explorations/Lalande Initial Drill Program: Thicknesses of Up to 48 m
MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 03/14/12 -- Ditem Explorations (TSX VENTURE: DIT) is pleased to announce that it has completed the initial drill program on its Lalande rare earth property, near La Romaine, on budget and on time. Core samples have been sent for laboratory analysis to determine grades at depth. Results are expected in about two months.
The initial drill program has established that the host rock, a pink pegmatite, extends from surface or near surface to depth with an apparent thickness of up to 48 m. The pegmatite layer appears to underlie the A1 zone and probably extends northwards to include the A2 zone. The drill program consisted of 5 holes for a total length of 476 m and targeted the A1 zone only. A summary of the initial drill program may be viewed on the company's web site at www.ditem.com . Now that the host rock has been found to be present at depth, the Company plans to undertake an important and very substantial drill program in early June to delineate and explore the host rock in all directions, if warranted by core analyses.
This first drill program ever for this region followed the excellent results of the 2011 exploration program completed in August 2011. Two major surface showings (Zones A1 and A2), measuring about 350 m x 100 m and 250 m x 80 m, were discovered during the 2011 summer exploration program. Zones A1 and A2 are characterized by high grades of up to 5.6% and 6.13% TREO on rock samples (all saw cut, 20 cm x 20 cm x 5 cm).
The Lalande property (100% Ditem) consists of 224 map designated claims covering 12,320 hectares (123.2 km2). The property is located along the North Shore in north-eastern Quebec, 12 km northwest of La Romaine. The all-season road (#138) from Sept-Iles to La Romaine, presently under construction, is now past Natashquan and should be completed to La Romaine (and close to the property) in 2016. The town of La Romaine, with a population of more than 1,000, has both airport and port facilities. Exploration programs are being conducted with the consent of the community.
'The presence of the host rock at depth and the fact that it appears to be a continuous layer over the distance covered by this initial drill program is very encouraging.' said CEO and Chairman Raymond Savoie. 'We hope that the laboratory analyses will establish good grades and confirm the economic potential of the property.'
