Power Restored at the Young-Davidson Mine
TORONTO, May 29, 2012 /CNW/ - AuRico Gold Inc. (TSX: AUQ) (NYSE: AUQ), ("AuRico" or "the Company") reports that full power has been restored by Hydro One at the Young-Davidson mine and the mill facility is fully energized and ore processing activities are anticipated to commence shortly. For the ten days prior to the shut-down, the mill had attained designed capacity, averaging 6,048 tonnes per day. Over the coming days the operations team will focus its efforts on ramping-up mill operations to targeted levels and begin mechanical commissioning of the gravity, thickener and flotation circuits. On May 20, 2012 several power poles were damaged by a forest fire located 70 kilometers from the mine site that disrupted the main 115 kV power supply. During this power outage, the mine utilized a separate 44 kV line and back-up generators to maintain open pit, underground and construction activities.
