Kelvin Dushnisky Appointed Senior Executive Vice President

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/25/12 -- Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE: ABX)(TSX: ABX) announced today that Kelvin Dushnisky has been promoted to the position of Senior Executive Vice President.

In this position, Mr. Dushnisky retains global responsibility for Government Relations, Project Permitting and Approvals, Corporate Responsibility, Investor Relations and Communications, all functions that are critical to the successful execution of Barrick's global business strategy. He will also assume oversight responsibility for Barrick Energy, the company's Alberta-based oil and gas business and an important component of Barrick's cost management strategy.

Mr. Dushnisky joined Barrick in 2002 and advanced through a series of progressively senior positions to become Executive Vice President, Corporate and Legal Affairs in June 2010. He holds a B.Sc. (Hon.) degree from the University of Manitoba and M.Sc. and J.D. degrees from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Dushnisky is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association and represents Barrick, along with CEO Jamie Sokalsky, at the World Gold Council and the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). Mr. Dushnisky also serves on the boards of the Mining Association of Canada, the Institute of the Americas, the Canadian Council of the Americas and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
