Entourage Identifies Strong Gold Anomalies at the Benton Gold Property on Trend with Trelawney Mining's Cote Lake Deposit and Jerome Mine

22.03.2012  |  Marketwired
VANCOUVER, March 22, 2012 - Entourage Metals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:EMT) (the "Company") is pleased to announce its surface exploration has identified two strong gold anomalies at the Benton Gold Property, located west of Trelawney Mining's Côté Lake and Jerome Deposits. The anomalies were identified during the 2011 surface exploration program which comprised Soil Gas Hydrocarbon (SGH) sampling and reconnaissance level gravity geophysical surveys.

Entourage's 203 square kilometer (km) Benton Gold Property is located in the underexplored Southern Swayze greenstone belt in Benton Township, Ontario. Located within the Abitibi region the property straddles a portion of the Ridout Deformation Zone, considered to be the western extension of the Larder Lake-Cadillac Deformation Zone (the Kirkland Lake Deposits and Kerr Addison-Chesterville gold deposits associated with the Larder Lake-Cadillac zone have historic production exceeding 49 million ounces of gold). The Ridout Deformation Zone hosts Trelawney Mining's Côté Lake Gold Deposit (Inferred Resource of 5.9 million ounces of gold; www.trelawneymining.com) and the Jerome Mine (Inferred Resource of 1.03 million ounces of gold; www.trelawneymining.com). Entourage's claims are approximately 35 km and 10 km northwest of the Côté Lake Deposit and Jerome Mine respectively.

The SGH program analyzed 4,785 soil samples along 11 km of strike length of the Ridout Deformation Zone, where the rock types are very similar to the Kirkland Lake Greenstone Belt (consisting of Timiskaming sediments, volcanics, and porphyries). The SGH survey is a deep penetrating geochemical method that involves the analysis of various hydrocarbons associated with ore bodies at depth using a forensic and comparative approach for identification. This relatively new method has proven effective where conventional soil geochemistry is ineffectual, especially in deeply covered or glaciated terrains. It has also been shown to accurately identify known mineralization beneath overburden and has contributed to recent gold discoveries in the Canadian Shield and elsewhere, including Trelawney's resource expansion of the Jerome Mine.

Of two large anomalies discovered by Entourage, the western anomaly at Benton has a footprint of 1.5 km by 3.0 km and the eastern anomaly has a footprint of 2.0 km by 2.0 km. Both anomalies have a high degree of confidence according to Actlabs, the laboratory who performed the specialized interpretation. This confidence level is statistically based upon similar SGH results interpreted by Actlabs from surveys completed at other gold deposits. These two SGH anomalies coincide with a strong gravity break as well as anomalous gold grains in till (up to 25 grains) proximal to this break. These three coincident results of geochemical and geophysical indicators warrant additional follow-up surface work as well as future diamond drilling.

Follow up field work will commence during the spring of 2012, consisting of geological mapping, sampling, and surface trenching to refine drill targets over these gold anomalies.

Gravity breaks, similar to those identified during the Benton Survey, are associated with and correlated well with gold deposits in the Abitibi (Open File Report 6189, Discover Abitibi). The association of anomalous till samples and high confidence SGH anomalies near a gravity break make this an attractive exploration target. Additionally, the proximal Timiskiming Sediments found at the Property could be directly related to this gravity break.
