Entourage Metals Commences Surface Exploration at the October Gold Property, Benton Township, Adjacent to IAMGOLD's Cote Lake/Jerome Projects
18.10.2012 | Marketwired
VANCOUVER, Oct. 18, 2012 - Entourage Metals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:EMT) is pleased to report that surface exploration is underway at the 100-per-cent-owned October Gold Property (previously known as the Benton Property) within the Swayze Greenstone Belt, in the southwestern portion of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in northern Ontario The surface exploration will consist of geological mapping, prospecting, and grab samples for lithogeochemistry to better understand the structure, mineralization, and alteration on the property; with respect to gold deposition. In addition, geophysical surveys will be designed and implemented to better define drillhole targets once this mapping is completed. Entourage is planning on drilling the property during the first quarter of 2013.
Previously, two large soil gas hydrocarbon anomalies (SGH) were defined on the property. These SGH anomalies coincide with a strong gravity break, as well as, anomalous gold grains in till (up to 25 grains) proximal to this break. The three coincident geochemical, geophysical and gold in till indicators warrant additional follow-up surface work as well as future diamond drilling (EMT 2012- NR #04).
Entourage's 203-square kilometre October Gold Property is located in the underexplored Southern Swayze Greenstone Belt near Benton Township, Ontario. Located within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt the property straddles a portion of the Ridout Deformation Zone, considered to be the western extension of the Cadillac-Larder Lake Deformation Zone (the Kirkland Lake Deposits and Kerr Addison-Chesterville gold deposits associated with the Cadillac-Larder Lake Deformation Zone have historic production exceeding 49 million ounces of gold). The Ridout Deformation Zone hosts recently discovered Iamgold's Côté Lake Gold Deposit (Indicated Resource of 3.56 million ounces of gold; and Inferred Resource of 4.66 million ounces of gold)(see Iamgold Press Release 04-10-2012). Entourage's claims are approximately 35 km and 10 km northwest of the Côté Lake Deposit and Jerome Mine, respectively.
Historical exploration within Entourage's claim group has been limited and erratic due to an extensive cover of sand and peat bog overlying the property. This has hampered exploration efforts in the area. The lack of exploration within one of the most prolific, gold-endowed Archean Subprovince is considered a unique opportunity.
Entourage's exploration activity is under the supervision of John C. Florek, P.Geo, Vice-President Exploration for Entourage Metals. Mr. Florek is a Qualified Persons as defined by NI 43-101. Mr. Florek prepared and approved the information contained in this release.
