Vanstar Completes the First Phase of Work on the Little Monster and Cookie Monster Projects

24.07.2013  |  Marketwired
LA PRAIRIE, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired - July 24, 2013) - Vanstar Mining Resources (TSX VENTURE:VSR) announces the completion of the first geological and geophysical survey for the Little Monster and Cookie Monster projects located in the Chapais area of Quebec.

A magnetic survey of approximately 30 km was conducted in the northwest section of Little Monster, near the border of TomaGold's Monster Lake project. A hundred or so samples were also taken of the rock outcrops visited by the work team in recent weeks.

Several mineralized and sheared structures have been identified in the two projects. All samples collected have been sent to Laboratoire Expert in Rouyn-Noranda for testing.

"We are very happy with what we saw in the field in this first phase of work. Things look favourable for further, more involved work in this location," said Vanstar President Guy Morissette.

The Little Monster and Cookie Monster projects, each of which Vanstar has a 50% interest in, are made up of 48 cells covering approximately 2,500 hectares. They are situated in the Fancamp deformation corridor.

In the immediate surroundings of these two projects is the Monster Lake showing (TomaGold), where recently announced results show a strong gold mining potential, particularly at Zone 325, located less than 1,000 metres from the western edge of Little Monster (see TomaGold press release, 2013-02-20). To the east are Murgor's main showings-Zones A, B and C-and the Chevrier deposits. In the southeast is the Opawica-Guercheville deformation corridor, which contains several gold deposits, including Philibert (1.4 million MT @ 5.32 g/t Au - DV9301), Meston Lake (1.225 million MT @ 6.35 g/t Au - MB89-17) and the former Joe Mann mine (1.52 million MT @ 11 g/t Au - GM44408). Vanstar also owns 100% of the Nelligan project, which is also in the vicinity of these deposits.

The work mentioned was completed under the supervision of Daniel Kelly, Engineering Consultant and a qualified person under NI 43-101. He has approved this press release.

On a different note, Jean-François Lemay has resigned as director to devote himself to personal projects. The company wishes to thank Mr. Lemay for all his work and his invaluable counsel.
