Eagle Star Attracts Top Phosphate Expert As A Result Of Its High-Grade Discovery At Bomfim's Santiago Target
02.12.2013 | Marketwired
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired - Dec 2, 2013) - Eagle Star Minerals Corp., (TSX VENTURE:EGE) (PINKSHEETS:ELGSF) (FRANKFURT:E6R) ("Eagle Star" or "the Company") is pleased to welcome the addition of Professor Paulo Roberto Amorim Dos Santos Lima to the Company as Senior Exploration Advisor. Prof. Amorim was responsible for heading the exploration programs for phosphate producer MbAC Fertilizers Corporation ("MbAC") at its flagship Itafos Arraias SSP Project and for Rio Verde Minerals Corporation ("Rio Verde") at its primary phosphate project Bonito (Fosfatar) in the state of Para.
"I have been following up on Eagle Star and its progress in Brazil for quite some time now and I am very impressed with the results published to date from both of the Company's projects. My recent visit to the Bomfim Project and in particular the Santiago Target has persuaded me that as a professional with specific expertise in phosphate, I should become a part of this developing story," Noted Prof. Paulo Amorim, Eagle Star's newly appointed Senior Exploration Advisor.
Prof. Amorim is an expert in developing phosphate projects. In particular, he specializes in evaluating projects selecting targets and overseeing progress through all stages of development from exploration to feasibility studies. Prior to his time spent with MbAC and Rio Verde and as part of his 38 year career in the mining industry, Prof. Amorim held for 22 years the position of General Manager of Exploration and Acquisitions for Brazilian mining giant Companhia Vale do Rio Doce ("Vale"). Following that experience, Prof. Amorim was team leader in charge of the opening and operation of the Vale Mineral Exploration & Development Division in Angola. He was also the key person responsible for the evaluation of Vale's mineral opportunities in South America, the Caribbean, North America, Russia, Turkey and Africa. Prof. Amorim spent his final six years with Vale assessing their mineral assets portfolio and selecting which projects would be most suitable for farming out.
As head professor of Economic Geology at UERJ (Universidade de Estado do Rio de Janeiro), Prof. Amorim is the author of two books on mineralogy titled "Guia de Mineralogia" (Mineral Guide) which was edited by Geosol in 2004 with its second edition released in 2007 and "Minerais em Grãos, Técnicas de Amostragem, Preparação e Identificação" (Mineral Grain Sizes, Sampling, Preparation and Identification Techniques) which was released in 2005. Prof. Amorim is a Geology graduate (B.Sc) from the Rio de Janeiro Federal University, post-graduate in the Evaluation of Mineral Deposits from the Freiberg University, Germany and also post-graduate in Mining and the Environment from the Technological Center (CENTEK) at the Luleå University, Sweden. He has also completed his MBA in Management Development at IBMEC in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
As part of his new role with Eagle Star, Prof. Amorim will be responsible for future development of both The Bomfim and Ruth Projects:
At the Bomfim Project
Special focus will be given in the near term to the Santiago Target where the Company intends to deliver an updated resource estimate by early Q1 2014 that will combine with the report on targets PZE-South & Amaury expected shortly. Eagle Star will utilize the expertise of Prof. Amorim to further drill the remaining areas of these first three (3) targets (PZE-South/Amaury/Santiago). Prof. Amorim will also help the Company devise and execute the most effective drill program for the additional six (6) targets (Maurin/Adepasa/Kalunga/PZE-North/MSZ/PZE-West) identified so far at Bomfim.
At the Ruth Project
To date, extensive mapping and systematic channel sampling by Eagle Star's technical team has revealed a large phosphate mineralized package that extends along a strike of approximately 30kms at the Canabrava Block within Ruth. Over recent months, Eagle Star has been busy completing a series of technical tests on the mineralized package aimed towards establishing an opportunity to produce a Direct Application Natural Fertilizer Product which contains certain micro-nutrient blends that are conducive for soil correction and plant growth. In conjunction with this work, the Company has plans to quantify the extent of the resources at Canabrava with the assistance of Prof. Amorim based on his recommendations for target selection and drilling.
"We feel very privileged welcoming Paulo and the level of knowledge and experience he brings with him to Eagle Star. I think his addition to the Company lends a lot of credibility to not only the team that we have in place, but also to the potential of our assets," Comments Eran Friedlander President & CEO Eagle Star Minerals Corp.
