EPM Mining Announces Important Environmental Impact Statement Milestone for Its Sevier Lake Playa Sulphate of Potash Project

12.03.2014  |  Marketwired

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Mar 12, 2014) - EPM Mining Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE:EPK)(OTCQX:EPKMF) ("EPM" or the "Company") announced today that the Bureau of Land Management ("BLM") Utah Fillmore Field Office published in the Federal Register its intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (the "EIS") for the Company's Sevier Lake Playa Sulphate of Potash Project located in southwestern Utah.

"The Federal Register announcement is the official start of BLM's EIS process," said Lance D'Ambrosio, Chief Executive Officer of EPM. "This is a major milestone for our project and represents the culmination of much time and effort. We anticipate a smooth and timely EIS process and look forward to working with the community and all other stakeholders."

During the initial public scoping period, which begins with the Federal Register announcement, the BLM will seek input to determine relevant issues that will guide the process for developing the EIS and influence the scope of the analysis, including potential alternatives. An approved EIS Record of Decision ("ROD") allows for final approval of the BLM Mining Plan. Construction of EPM's project can commence once there is an approved EIS ROD and an approved Mining Plan.
