Harte Gold Identifies Source of Peacock Boulders

09.09.2014  |  Marketwired

Reports 9.28g/t Gold over 6.25 Meters at Wolf Zone

Identifies New Gold Zone

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sep 9, 2014) - Harte Gold Corp. ("Harte Gold") (TSX:HRT)(FRANKFURT:H4O)(OTC:HRTFF) is pleased to issue this initial report on the exploration diamond drilling program that commenced August 5, 2014 on Harte Gold's 100% owned Sugar Zone property located north-east of White River, Ontario.

  • Drilling identifies the source of the high grade (up to 87 g/t gold) Peacock boulders
  • High grade intersection 9.28 g/t Gold over 6.25 meters at Wolf Zone confirms strongly mineralized system
  • Wolf Zone Structure traced for a distance of 2,100 meters
  • Middle Zone discovered between Wolf Zone and Sugar Zone Deposit, 900 meter indicated length
  • Further extension potential to South-East Zone (see map below)

Reconnaissance Drilling

Harte Gold followed up on Induced Polarization ("IP") surveys completed earlier this year by drilling 19 holes, some of which warrant further drill testing and structural analysis.

Wolf Zone

The current drill program has identified the Wolf Zone as the origin of the high grade Peacock Boulders (collectively the "Peacock Boulder") which were discovered in late 2009. Initial assays from boulder #1 were corroborated by follow up grab sampling which returned 6.84 g/t, 9.85 g/t, 37.3 and 52.8 g/t (see news release July 21, 2010).

Drill hole DZ 14-20 and was drilled into the north end of the Wolf Zone and cut a one meter quartz vein with visible gold as well as the mineralized shear zone and porphyry. Assays returned 9.28 grams/tonne gold over 6.25 meters (0.27 oz per ton gold over 20.5 ft), including a section of 108 grams/ tonne gold over 0.5 meters which showed visible gold. Metamorphosed Hemlo style mineralization at the Wolf Zone Structure has been traced by IP and drilling for a length of 2,100 meters.

Seventeen holes have been drilled along a 125 meter length of the Wolf Zone in order to define the geometry of this portion of the Wolf Zone which is interpreted as dipping 70 degrees to the southwest and plunging steeply to the south. Intersections range from 5 meters to 16 meters with visible gold (VG) observed in three holes. Further assay results are pending. Additionally, drill hole DZ 14-38 is located 275 meters south of DZ-14-20 and intersected eight meters of Wolf Zone style mineralization (sillicification with fine grain sulphides and altered porphyry).

Middle Zone

Gold bearing sulphide zones, collectively the Middle Zone, have been discovered in outcrop between the Wolf Zone and the Sugar Zone Deposit. One of the areas of interest consists of two parallel sulphide zones approximately three meters in width and located 50 meters apart. A grab sample from bedrock returned 4.39 g/t gold. The Middle Zone has been outlined and traced by prospecting and IP for 500 meters and extends south-east of the present grid which indicates a potential length of over 900 meters. Four holes have been drilled and final assays are pending. Further drilling is planned.

South - East Zone

The South-East Zone consists of a number of IP targets which, pending completion of ground proofing, will be drill tested.

Robert S. Middleton, P Eng., Consultant and Project Manager, commented: "As part of the geological evaluation of the Sugar Zone property, Harte Gold has identified the Wolf Zone as the source of the Peacock Boulder. The highly sericitized laminated zones that occur in the Wolf Zone are similar in appearance to metamorphosed Hemlo shear zones. The same Hemlo deformed folded biotite altered units occur in both boulder #4 and the footwall of the Wolf Zone." Mr. Middleton added: "On-going drilling and geological mapping have identified an unusual gabbro intrusion that appears only along the Wolf Zone Structure. It contains fragments of deeper volcanic and ultramafic rocks (serpentine) which suggest the Wolf Zone Structure is a deep seated structure with significant depth potential. Altered porphyries, the heat engines that help inject and deposit gold bearing fluids, also extend along the Wolf Zone Structure. Harte Gold has retained renowned structural geologist Dr. Roy Shegelski to assist in the interpretation of the property geology."

Next Steps

Harte Gold will drill within the next ten days an additional six holes in the Middle Zone, Wolf Zone Structure and South-East Zone areas. Following receipt of all assay results, Harte Gold will review these results and identify priority areas to be tested in a Phase Two drill program.

Bulk Sample

Harte Gold also announced it has begun the next phase of road work and site development related to its permitted 70,000 tonne bulk sample. Harte Gold is involved in advanced discussions with mining contractors for the provision of contract mining services. Site visits are scheduled for early October and final contracts expected thereafter. Discussions with Barrick Gold Corp. ("Barrick") indicate the bulk sample may be processed at Barrick's near-by Hemlo operations.

QA / QC Statement

Drill core was logged in Harte Gold's secure core facility in White River, Ontario. Samples were hand delivered to the AGAT preparation lab in Thunder Bay where they were crushed and pulverized and sent to the Mississauga lab for analysis. Samples within the Wolf Zone were fire assayed using a 30 gram representative sample and finished with ICP analysis. Additional ICP analysis was done for pathfinder elements. For quality control and quality assurance a standard sample was inserted every 20 samples during the program and a blank sample was also inserted every 20 samples, however, within the mineralization a blank was also inserted after every sample. Samples exceeding 1 gram / tonne Au were re-assayed, in cases where visible gold is abundant, metallic screen analysis is used. R.S. Middleton P.Eng. is supervising the current drill program and oversees all logging, splitting and assay procedures for the project. Mr. Middleton is acting as the Qualified Person for Harte Gold Corp. in regards to this project and has reviewed the contents of this news release.
