VIDEO: Abitibi Royalties Ian Ball Speaks about the Company's Vision
27.09.2014 | ABN Newswire
Toronto, Canada (ABN Newswire) - Mr. Ball was formerly the President and was previously Vice President (Mexico)/Senior Vice President of McEwen Mining Inc. (NYSE:MUX). He is credited with leading the McEwen Mining team that built the El Gallo 1 mine on time and budget, in addition to making the El Gallo 2 discovery in Mexico. Previously, Mr. Ball worked for McEwen Capital Corporation, where he was responsible for raising capital, structuring transactions and managing exploration programs throughout North America. Mr. Ball has played a role in various mergers and acquisitions throughout the natural resource sector, which have a combined market value of $11 billion. He originally began his career with Goldcorp Inc. in 2004.
In this video, Ian Ball gives an overview of his involvement and vision for the company.
Simply speaking, royalties are a right to receive a percentage of the production from a mine. However, such royalties may have various structures and they may be created for different reasons and at different stages from exploration to development. Our team has a long history of developing a variety of such structures specifically during the early stages of exploration. This acquired experience makes Abitibi Royalties unique in the universe of royalty companies.
Abitibi Royalties (CVE:RZZ) was formed on the basis of an initial portfolio of exploration royalties generated as the result of the ordinary grass-roots exploration business of Golden Valley Mines Ltd. (CVE:GZZ) ("Golden Valley"). The flagship royalty of this initial portfolio is on the Malartic CHL property. Technically speaking this is not a royalty but a joint venture with Osisko Mining Corp. ("Osisko"), where Abitibi Royalties owns a 30 percent interest. However, the structure of the joint venture is such that Abitibi Royalties is free carried to production and therefore not exposed to any of the upfront costs to bring this project to production. The property itself is in close proximity to Osisko's Canadian Malartic Gold project. In fact the most recent outline of the proposed South Barnett open pit is encroaching on the Malartic CHL property and Osisko announced that an initial 43-101 resource estimate is pending for the Jeffrey zone directly located on this property.
