Jim Florczak to retire as treasurer after 16 years with the company; Matt Giljum named vice president, finance and treasurer

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Arch Coal Inc. (NYSE:ACI) today announced that James E. Florczak, Arch's treasurer, will retire at the end of January after a 16-year career with Arch Coal. He will be succeeded by Matthew C. Giljum, who will become vice president, finance and treasurer at that time. "We greatly appreciate Jim's many contributions to Arch's growth and success over the years," said John T. Drexler, Arch's senior vice president and chief financial officer. "He has been a valuable asset to the company and we will miss his leadership and counsel. We wish Jim the very best in his well-earned retirement."
Florczak has served as Arch's treasurer since joining the company in 1998. Prior to joining Arch, he was a managing director of commercial lending at Bank of America.
"Matt Giljum has been a key player on the finance team for many years, showing true leadership at every step in his career progression," Drexler said. "Matt is exceptionally well-equipped to take on these new duties and I look forward to working closely with him in his expanded capacity."
Giljum first joined Arch in 2002 as manager of financial reporting. Since that time, he has served as senior manager of financial reporting; director of finance; and most recently as vice president of finance. He started his career at Ernst & Young LLP.
Giljum graduated from the University of Missouri in 1993 with a degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned his masters' of business administration from Washington University in St. Louis in 2004.
