Northern Abitibi Annouces Trenching Results for Ches Including 0.61% Copper and 7.4 g/t Silver Over 1.5 Metres

17.12.2014  |  Marketwired
CALGARY, Dec 17, 2014 - Northern Abitibi Mining Corp. ("Northern Abitibi or the Company") (TSX VENTURE:NAI) is pleased to announce assay results for surface sampling at the Company's Ches property in Central British Columbia.

During 2014 the Company excavated, mapped, and sampled, 7 trenches at Ches and collected a total of 274 surface rock samples for assay. Trenching and surface mapping have successfully traced alteration and variable sulfide mineralization over an area at least 1.5 km long by 0.5 km wide. Minor limestone and marble beds have been exposed along with fine grained bedded clastic sedimentary rocks and intrusive rocks, with select beds containing garnet, pyroxene, or actinolite skarn with sulfides. Stockwork quartz-sulfide veinlets are exposed in trenches in select areas, along with sulfide veinlets containing pyrite-pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite-sphalerite.

A 1.5 metre chip sample from the Exo road quarry returned 1.25% zinc, 0.16% copper, 0.12% tungsten trioxide (WO3), and 2.6 g/t silver. Trenching adjacent to the main access road returned chip samples grading 0.33% copper, 3.73 g/t silver and 0.03% WO3 over 4.5 metres, including 0.61% copper, 7.4 g/t silver, and 0.05% WO3 over 1.5 metres. In addition a 1.5 metre chip sample from the eastern side of the property returned 38.1 g/t silver and 0.1% zinc from altered granitic intrusive rock. A grab sample located several hundred metres southwest of previously documented mineralization returned 0.33% copper, 0.1% WO3, 0.21% zinc, and 5.2 g/t silver, showing the system remains open for exploration.

Significant intervals of highly anomalous copper and zinc have been encountered in the trenches demonstrating the system contains significant anomalies in bedrock. These values range from 200 to 1000 ppm copper, and 200 to 5150 ppm zinc. The Company is currently evaluating the trenching results and the newly acquired geologic information to determine if additional trenching targets or drill targets can be identified.

The Ches Property -

The road accessible Ches Property is located 80 km south of Burns Lake on the south side of Ootsa Lake. Mineralization was first discovered during logging road construction with minimal exploration or evaluation conducted since discovery. The property contains pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite-scheelite replacement (skarn) style mineralization in calcareous sedimentary rocks and quartz chalcopyrite-molybdenite-scheelite stockwork veining in fine grained siltstones. Surface grab sampling reported in a 2009 Technical Report by Scarlet Resources Ltd. returned values up to 1% copper, 16 g/t silver, and 0.3% tungsten from the replacement-skarn style mineralization, and values up to 0.45% copper, 0.02% molybdenum, 7 g/t silver, and 0.1% tungsten from the stockwork zone. Prior to Northern Abitibi's work these mineralized zones have never been trenched or drill tested. The sampling by Scarlet Resource Ltd. is historic in nature and should not be relied upon.
