Nexus Gold Corp. Commences Work Program at Walker Ridge Gold Project
24.09.2014 | Accesswire
Vancouver, Canada / ACCESSWIRE / September 24, 2014 / Nexus Gold Corp. ("Nexus" or the "Company") (TSX-V: NXS) is pleased to announce that it is moving forward with plans to begin testing its flagship Walker Ridge Gold Project in Elko County, Nevada, this Fall. Field operations are expected to begin immediately.
The Company is using a leading-edge, field-tested technology that locates and measures key markers of a targeted substance. This proprietary and highly-innovative technique potentially optimizes drill-hole selection, reducing both the cost and risk associated with traditional exploration drilling. The project has been permitted for up to six drill pads through the US Forest Service office in Elko, Nevada.
The results from this survey will be integrated with previous geophysical, geochemical and geochronological surveys to guide the initial drill-hole selection. The Phase One drill program will focus on determining the depth to the Roberts Mountain - Hanson Creek Formations which are the host rocks for most of the Carlin-type gold deposits in northern Nevada.
The primary targets at Walker Ridge consist of two large low density/low resistivity flanks, separated by a higher density septum. These correspond to a strong 3200 x 3200 meter (2 sq. miles) "bull's eye" antimony/mercury geochemical surface anomaly. The targets also feature a Carlin-aged (Eocene) intrusion (dated at 35.9 Ma via U-Pb radiometric geochronology) that appears to intercept both the geophysical (gravity/resistivity) signatures at depth and the geochemical surface anomalies.
The Walker Ridge property consists of over 4000 acres (1700 hectares) and is located approximately 10km north of Veris Gold Corp's Jerritt Canyon Mine and processing facility, and 2.8km south of Anova Metals' Big Springs Project.
