Strike Diamond Corp. Acquires the Notakwanon Project in the Garland Exploration Camp
21.09.2015 | FSCwire
Vancouver, BC (FSCwire) - Strike Diamond Corp. (TSX VENTURE:SRK)("Strike Diamond" or “the Corporation”) is pleased to report that it has acquired the Notakwanon Nickel-Cobalt-PGM Project located within the Garland Exploration Camp in Labrador.
“Strike Diamond is pleased to further increase its early-mover tenure position in the Garland exploration camp. The mineral tenure underlying the Notakwanon project has significant history which was well-noted by the market when Inco Limited led the region’s prior exploration push. New advances in airborne technology since that time, combined with renewed market interest in the Garland region, provides an ideal window for Strike Diamond to bolster its holdings in the area,” stated Ryan Kalt, Chairman and CEO of Strike Diamond.
Notakwanon Project Background
The Notakwanon Project is located approximately 40km SE of the Voisey’s Bay mine and is located approximately 4km SW of the Garland Project being explored by Equitas Resources Corp. It consists of two mineral licenses, License 023405M and 023406M, which combined have a total of 20 claim parcels, representing more than 1,200 acres.
With the exception of five claim cells, the Notakwanon Project now held by Strike Diamond replicates the ground underlying the Notakwanon Project formerly held by Freeport Resources Inc., who had established a position in the Garland camp during the mid-1990s.
A staking rush is presently occurring in the Garland region based on equity market interest and advances in exploration technology that may now allow for the identification of new targets modelled after the nearby Voisey’s Bay mine.
