African Queen Mines Hires Fionnuala Devine to Oversee Yellowjacket Gold Project
Vancouver, British Columbia / TheNewswire / October 14 2015 - African Queen Mines Ltd. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has now engaged Ms. Fionnuala Devine, P.Geo., to serve as Senior Project Geologist for its Yellowjacket Gold Project 9 km E of Atlin, B.C. (the "Project"). Ms. Devine shall provide general oversight and management of exploration and development of the Project. She is a resident of Atlin and will be a strong on-site presence.
Ms. Devine is a highly seasoned Senior Geologist with fifteen years experience, largely in exploration and development. Much of that time has been spent in British Columbia, an area with which she has great familiarity. She has a thorough understanding of the geology, mineralization and social structure of the Atlin mining camp, which is one of B.C.'s most prolific historic mining camps.
Ms. Devine has been working as a consulting geologist for a diverse group of companies, with a focus on geologic mapping and modeling of mineralized systems. She studied at the University of British Columbia (B.Sc.) and Carleton University (M.Sc.), with associated early work at the British Columbia Geological Survey and Yukon Geological Survey. Her strong field background led to work with Teck Cominco (Teck Resources) as part of a technical team working in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, primarily on porphyry systems. She currently works in early to advanced stage exploration applying geological studies to understanding and targeting mineralization at the deposit and district scales. Ms. Devine has experience in gold vein systems, porphyry and epithermal systems in North and South America and has developed strong expertise in development of 2D geologic maps and 3D digital models of mineralized systems.
The Company is presently formulating its plans for exploration, development and potential mining of the Project, which covers an area of approximately 79.56 sq. km of mineral claims, placer claims and placer leases. According to Irwin Olian, CEO of the Company, "We are delighted that Fionnuala Devine has joined our team to head up our exploration and development efforts at Yellowjacket. She has invaluable experience in the Atlin mining camp and will doubtless prove to be a great asset to the Company."
