Pangolin Reports Pyrope G10 Garnets, Malatswae Diamond Project, Botswana
Pyrope garnets with G10 compositions, consistent with the diamond stability field, recovered from a soil sample
Three high-pressure garnet megacrysts recovered from three soil samples
Additional anomalous garnet concentrations have been recovered from soil samples within a 2km x 2km zone and are being assessed for surface morphology
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov 19, 2015) - Pangolin Diamonds Corp. (TSX VENTURE:PAN) (the "Company" or "Pangolin") is pleased to announce it has completed microprobe analysis of pyrope garnets with near-source surface features from the Company's wholly-owned Malatswae Diamond Project ("Malatswae"), located 90 km southeast of the Orapa kimberlite field in Botswana. Four soil samples produced a total of 14 pyrope garnets, with samples MTI64 and MTI83 each producing five pyrope garnets having surface features consistent with a proximal kimberlite source (see news release of November 3, 2015).
Sample MTI64 contains two pyrope garnets with G10 compositions, and a third grain is a high-pressure megacryst. In samples MTI83 and MTI50, high-pressure megacrysts are also confirmed. Both the G10 pyrope and high-pressure megacryst garnets have compositions indicating formation at diamond-favourable depths in the earth. The G10 pyrope and high-pressure garnets have primary surfaces overprinted by weathering textures that would not survive during transport, suggesting a proximal source.
Additional anomalous garnet concentrations (up to 7 garnets) have been recovered from soil samples collected on a 100m x 100m grid within a 2km x 2km area. This area, the MTS Grid, is approximately 20 kilometres to the north of the MSC Grid area where Pangolin has recovered several diamonds from soil samples (See news release of November 17, 2015). The unscreened 20 litre samples were collected within a 10 metre radius of a GPS controlled sample site. This material was dry screened in the field to recover the +0.425 - 2.0 millimetre size fraction. The samples were then transported to Francistown, Botswana and processed through Pangolin's 1-tph DMS plant. The entire process was conducted under the scrutiny of Mr. Miracle Muusha (MSc, MAIG, Pr. Sci. Nat.), appointed as independent QP in Botswana. The concentrates were subsequently delivered to an independent mineral specialist in Gaborone, Botswana who sorted and recovered the indicator minerals.
The areas of anomalous garnet concentrations are being covered by a 50m x 50 detailed sampling grid with the sample size being increased to 100 litres. In addition, seven aeromagnetic anomalies associated with the anomalous concentrations of garnets have been identified. A detailed groundmagnetic survey, followed by gravity surveys, will be initiated shortly.
The indicators have been delivered to MCC Geoscience Inc. (Vancouver, B.C.) for assessment of surface features. All garnets will be submitted for further microprobe analysis.
Microprobe analysis and the ranking of the indicators relative to diamond potential using proprietary techniques have been conducted at CF Minerals (Kelowna, B.C.). C.F. Mineral Research Ltd. is ISO 9001 Certified and all processes within are ISO 17025 Compliant.
