Happy Creek drills 6.5 metres of 0.21%W03 at Nightcrawler and South Grid becomes a new large scale target at the Fox tungsten property
November 23, 2015 / TheNewswire / Vancouver, British Columbia. Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSXV: HPY) (the "Company) is pleased to announce final results from drilling and the delineation of a significant new soil geochemical anomaly from its 100% owned, 150 square kilometre Fox tungsten property located in the south central Cariboo, British Columbia.
Between September 5th and October 3rd, eight NQ-size drill holes totaling approximately 1,500 metres have explored a portion of the eastern end of the road-accessible Nightcrawler tungsten skarn zone. Results from F15-01 and 2 were previously released October 29th, 2015. F15-2 (5 metres of 1.0% W03 (tungsten trioxide)) and F15-8 (6.5 metres of 0.21% W03) are approximately 250 metres apart, and successfully intersected the Creek prospect within the Nightcrawler zone. A summary of results are provided in the table below.
Hole | from | to | Interval | W03 |
(m) | (m) | (m) | % | |
F15-02 | 138.0 | 143.0 | 5.0 | 1.01 |
F15-04 | 26.6 | 28.3 | 1.7 | 0.21 |
F15-04 | 92.0 | 103.5 | 11.5 | 0.09 |
F15-04 | 150.0 | 151.0 | 1.0 | 0.30 |
F15-05 | 96.2 | 98.0 | 1.8 | 0.23 |
F15-08 | 78.0 | 84.5 | 6.5 | 0.21 |
F15-3, 4 and 5, are located 100 metres east, 700 metres southwest and 450 metres east of F15-02, respectively. These three widely-spaced holes cut multiple intervals in a favorable calc-silicate unit up to 90 metres in thickness which contains more dispersed, low grade tungsten. Holes F15-7 and 6 are more reconnaissance in nature, located 1 km and 1.6 km northeast of F15-02, respectively, and at a relatively higher elevation. These holes may have been too short to reach the favourable units. To date, wide-spaced drilling at the Nightcrawler zone has outlined positive tungsten values in an area 2.0 km by 500 metres in dimension and it remains open in extent. This area is located at low elevations in the valley and is covered by glacial till. Additional drilling is needed to better understand and follow the sub-surface mineralized zones.
The Company also completed a soil geochemical survey over the "South Grid" located approximately 1 km south and 150 metres higher in elevation than the Nightcrawler zone. This soil survey has identified a target area approximately 1.25 km by 500 metres in dimension containing strongly positive tungsten in soil values. Out of 689 samples in this grid, 66 returned values above 11.8 ppm W (tungsten) which is over 90th percentile for the entire Fox property. The South Grid target contains values comparable with or higher than values over the RC and BN prospects where numerous high-grade drill intersections occur. Previous prospecting on the periphery and a rock collected during the soil sampling within the target area consists of the favorable sulphide-rich calc silicate with scheelite (tungsten mineral). These findings are thought to be a good indication to validate the presence of underlying bedrock mineralization in the target area. The South Grid represents a large, potentially high-grade tungsten target located within very recent clear-cuts and logging roads. It has received no trenching or drilling and is a high priority target for follow-up work in 2016.
Maps of work completed will be posted to the Company's website, and additional results are pending.
David Blann, P.Eng., President of Happy Creek states: "Starting in September, the focus of work was to increase the projects geological knowledge, resource potential and collect data for future development plans. Results include 5 metres of 1.0% W03, the best drill result to date from the Nightcrawler area, and discovery of a new, near-surface and road accessible soil anomaly over one kilometre by 500 metres in dimensions. It is encouraging to see the South Grid soils having similar values to those on Deception Mountain, where at two zones we have drilled 14.8 metres of 4.0% W03 and 26 metres of 1.2% W03, respectively. These results and other work completed or on-going will contribute to future exploration and development plans. The Fox project continues to increase in potential and is an exciting new tungsten discovery, globally."
About the Fox property
The Fox property hosts a tungsten mineral system that is 10 km by 3 km in dimension. Although most of the property is under-explored, five major target areas are identified. Three zones on Deception Mountain span a distance of two kilometres. Results include 33 selected intervals averaging 2.5% W03 over 2.92 metres, and overall, 49 of 60 holes average 8.2 metres of 0.70% W03 within 26 metres of surface. Highlights of drilling in two zones include intervals such as 26 metres of 1.2% W03 and 14.8 metres of 4.0% W03, respectively. The Nightcrawler zone is an area 2.0 km by 500 metres in dimension where widely spaced drilling has returned positive results in multiple horizons, some of which are at surface. The best results include 5.0 metres of 1.0% W03. All zones are open in extent.

David Blann, P.Eng. is a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 and is responsible for the preparation and approval of the technical information disclosed in the news release. Drill core is NQ diameter and cut in half for sampling using a rock saw. Rock samples are shipped to, prepared and analyzed at Agat Laboratories in Vancouver. Samples are first analyzed by aqua regia digest and ICP/ICP-MS and for results of greater than 50 ppm W, are analyzed using a peroxide fusion digest in triplicate to obtain average tungsten (W) assay results. W is multiplied by 1.261 to obtain W03, the compound for which tungsten prices are quoted. Happy Creek inserts blanks, duplicates and certified standards into the sample stream approximately 1 in every 10 samples. Soil samples are sent to Agat where they are screened and the -80 mesh fraction analyzed using aqua regia digest and ICP/ICP-MS. This method is known to be a partial digestion for some refractory minerals including tungsten. Agat performs its own detailed duplicates and checks, for which all results are compared and fall within a satisfactory range.
