GWR Resources Inc. Drills Multiple High Grade Gold Intercepts at Aurizon

08.12.2015  |  Accesswire
VANCOUVER, December 8, 2015 - David H. Brett, President & CEO, GWR Resources Inc. (TSXV: GWQ) (the "Company"), is pleased to report results of the Company's recently completed follow up drill program at its 100% owned Lac La Hache Property in the Cariboo Region of central British Columbia, including 12.40 grams per tonne gold over 2 metres.

The program included 3 closely-spaced drill holes totaling 672 metres targeting the Aurizon-South gold-silver-copper breccia zone. The holes were designed to test the continuity of mineralization approximately 25 metres up-dip from mineralization encountered in 7 previous holes reported in October, 2015. The follow-up program confirmed that although the zone narrows closer to surface as expected, strong gold grades persist above the previously known high-grade intercepts.

"These new results confirm that the Aurizon South mineralization is open for extension as we get closer to surface, on strike and down-dip, which will help the Company in its efforts to calculate a mineral resource" said GWR President & CEO David Brett. "The Aurizon South is a robust, near vertical mineralized structure with attractive grades that could be amenable to underground mining."

Relative to several other drilled copper-gold-silver prospects at Lac La Hache, both the Aurizon South and Aurizon Central Zones are characterized by unusually high gold and silver concentrations. Mineralization is hosted by monzodioritic intrusive rocks and is associated with structurally controlled hydrothemal breccias, related fracturing, silicification (as quartz veins and pervasive silicification), carbonatization, pyrite and chalcopyrite. Strong potassium feldspar alteration occurs within the brecciated intrusive fragments and as envelopes within the enclosing intrusion.

GWR VP Exploration, Rob Shives said "I am excited that Aurizon South offers significant encouragement for two reasons: it has attractive grades and geometry possibly amenable to underground mining, and, it supports the presence of an undiscovered, underlying alkalic porphyry-copper (Au-Ag) system, offering considerable blue-sky potential. Similarly, historical geological and geophysical evidence at our Ann North Prospect suggests underlying ‘source intrusions' must exist, and this has been recently supported by discovery of a new style of porphyritic intrusion-hosted copper mineralization at surface, called the Berkey Prospect. While we continue to develop these very encouraging porphyry-style targets, our near term strategy will focus on assessment of potential to develop an underground mineable resource at Aurizon South."

At the new Berkey Prospect discovery, chalcopyrite occurs as disseminations within potassically altered porphyritic syenite, with no visible fracture control. As reported previously, assays from chip sampling across the main showing produced a grade of 0.45% Cu over 2.4 m. Grab samples assayed 0.35% Cu, 0.47% Cu and 1.5% Cu. Additional surface work has now exposed the mineralized intrusive dike continuously for 25 meters along its currently known 50 m strike (open), with widths exceeding 5 meters locally. No drilling has occurred at this new discovery.

GWR has wound up work on the Lac La Hache property until next spring/summer, when we plan to initiate new work at Aurizon and Berkey/Ann North areas.
