Airborne Geophysical Survey Resumes at Tri Origin-Sumac Alliance Gold & Base Metal Properties

19.01.2016  |  The Newswire

Aurora, Ontario / TheNewswire / January 19 2016 - Tri Origin Exploration Ltd. (TSX-V:TOE) ("Tri Origin" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that a VTEM-plus airborne geophysical survey covering a large property holding along the south margin of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in Ontario has now been recommenced following a deferral due to inclement weather experienced during late 2015. The survey covers staked claims acquired on behalf of a gold and base metal exploration Alliance entered into between Tri Origin and Sumac Mines Ltd. ("Sumac") a subsidiary of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. ("Sumitomo").

The survey was initially commenced during October of 2015 and deferred during mid-November due to a consistent period of bad weather. The survey is being flown by Geotech Ltd of Aurora, Ontario and, prior to the deferral during late 2015 VTEM-plus electromagnetic and magnetic data had been collected over approximately 40% of the initially proposed survey grid of 5,000 line-kilometres. The majority of the survey covers a virtually unexplored area along the southern margin of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in the Cobalt-Temagami region where prospective, Archean-age volcanic rocks are covered by younger, regionally extensive, Proterozoic-age sedimentary rocks. These cover rocks precluded historic prospecting and limited the effectiveness of earlier geophysical equipment which had minimal depth penetration capability.

Depending on weather, the survey is now expected to be complete by the beginning of February. The Alliance agreement has defined four target areas which are partially covered by the current airborne survey. Upon completion of the survey and compilation of results, Tri Origin and Sumac will select one of the four target areas to be the initial target area for detailed exploration. A 2016 summer/fall program of ground follow-up work will then be planned for the initial target area. Sumac will fund this upcoming phase of exploration. Shareholders will be informed of this program and its commencement upon its approval by Sumac.

Tri Origin is pleased to participate with Sumac in its mineral exploration efforts and values Sumac's contributions to this Alliance. Sumitomo, Sumac's parent company, is a Japanese firm engaged in gold and base metals mining, smelting and refining, manufacturing of semiconductor and advanced materials and other business.
