Athabasca Minerals Appointment to Management Team

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jan 21, 2016) - Athabasca Minerals Inc. ("Athabasca" or the "Corporation") (TSX VENTURE:ABM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Chris Greenwood, G.S.C., to the position of Vice President, Operations. Mr. Greenwood will be responsible for the continuing development of the aggregate business in the Wood Buffalo region, expanding the Corporation's market share throughout Western Canada, and complimenting the increased focus on potential infrastructure related projects for Athabasca industrial minerals.

President and CEO Scott MacDougall states; "We are extremely pleased to have Chris join our management team to continue our leadership in the delivery of industrial minerals in Alberta. His strong construction background in both aggregate sales, railing aggregates and large project commissioning will assist Athabasca's growth. Chris will be instrumental in complementing our existing management team to meet current and future demand."

Mr. Greenwood is the former President and General Manager of Standard General Inc., an Alberta based major construction contractor employing over 400 employees, and a subsidiary of the Coals Group of Companies. During his 40-year tenure at Standard General, he oversaw operations which included aggregate sales, asphalt sales, road construction and asphalt paving, residential / industrial / commercial construction and concrete work. Mr. Greenwood led revenue growth from $30 million to $140 million at Standard General during his leadership, and oversaw the coordination of up to 100 publicly tendered and privately negotiated projects per year. Mr. Greenwood was the representative for large-scale projects including aggregate supply for the Fort Hills Upgrader; West Anthony Henday Ring Road; Long Term Neighborhood Rehabilitation Dovercourt and the 41st Avenue Interchange Surface Works.

Mr. Greenwood has been involved in several associations including the Urban Development Institute Edmonton Chapter, Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association, Technical Advisory Committee University of Alberta, Alberta Construction Association, Canadian Construction Association and the Canadian Technical Asphalt Association.
