Tumi Resources Ltd. completes four holes on the down-plunge extension of the historic Sala silver mine mineralization, Bergslagen, Sweden
28.06.2012 | CNW
VANCOUVER, June 28, 2012 /CNW/ - Tumi Resources Limited (the "Company") (TSXV:TM) (Pink Sheets:TUMIF) (Frankfurt:TUY). Mr. David Henstridge, President, announces that four diamond drill holes totalling 1,137.65 m have now been completed at the Company's 100% owned Sala project, located in the Bergslagen District of Sweden. Assay results for three of the holes have been received and are listed in the table below.
Mr. Henstridge stated, "the drill program demonstrated that the Sala mineralization continues to plunge to the north from the historic mine area and remains open and untested to the north and down dip. The Company intends to apply for a mining lease to cover both this area and the zinc-silver mineralization (see press release March 2, 2012) located about 300 metres west of this area which will ensure the long term retention of both styles of mineralization."
Tumi received permission to drill from the underground workings of the adjacent Tistbrottet dolomite mine which put the drill site to within 250 meters of the projected down-plunge extension of the historic Sala mineralization. A total of four drill holes were drilled from one location, completing a fan of holes through the projected area of mineralization. All holes intersected a zone of sulphide mineralization within dolomite containing variable amounts of pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and galena. This zone dips steeply to the west and is believed to represent the down-plunge extension of the Sala mine mineralization. Using a cut-off grade of 30 g/t silver, drill results are as follows for the first three holes:
A mineral that appears to be native silver or a silver alloy was observed in several of the holes was not reflected in the assay results and hence 14 samples from holes SAA12-010 and SAA12-011 have been resubmitted for fire screen assay on 1 kg samples to test the accuracy of the issued results.
QC Statement: All diamond drilling has been performed under the direct supervision of, and logged and split by a Company geologist. Sampling was done mostly on one metre intervals but sometimes on the basis of geological boundaries. Split samples were transported to ALS Chemex Laboratory in Sweden for assay. Samples were assayed for 35 elements by ICP. Where necessary, metallic assays were undertaken for silver, lead and zinc. Analytical standards and blanks were introduced in the sample suites sent to the laboratory.
The qualified person for Tumi's projects, Anders Hogrelius, a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, has visited the Sala Project in Sweden and has verified the contents of this news release.
On behalf of the Board,
