Rockgate Capital Corp. Discovers New High-Grade Zone at Bodi, Falea Uranium-Silver-Copper Project, Mali
12.09.2012 | Marketwired
Including 4.03 Metres of 0.41% U3O8, 49.7 g/t Ag, and 1.29% Cu
VANCOUVER, 09/12/12 - Rockgate Capital Corp. (TSX: RGT) (the "Company") is pleased to announce results from an extensive drill program in the Bodi area at the Company's Falea U-Ag-Cu project in western Mali. The program was designed to both add measured and indicated resource and examine the potential for open pitable ore. Key points regarding the program are as follows:
- Discovery of high-grade uranium mineralization, including 0.41% U3O8, 49.7 g/t Ag, and 1.29% Cu over 4.03 metres in DF-744, in a new area, the Bodi East Zone, east of the Road Fault.
- 77 diamond drill holes totalling 9,835 metres completed.
- Presence of near-surface high-grade mineralization (31.3 metres depth in DF-699) suggesting that open pit mining on Bodi may be possible.
- High-grade mineralization trends northwest, parallel to the high-grade Plateau Edge Structure.
- Bodi Trend crosses the north-trending Road Fault with minimal lateral displacement, continuing west of the fault. Further drilling on near-surface targets is planned for the fall campaign.
Table 1: Drill Highlights - Bodi East Zone
All reported intervals are true lengths.
Bodi East
Access to the east side of Bodi started on the plateau and worked down. Initial drill holes near the top of the plateau revealed high-grade mineralization over narrow widths in DF-661, DF-668, and DF-672. Access continued down to where the near-horizontal host Kania Sandstone and underlying mudstone and basal volcanic/conglomerate unit (VC) sit unconformably on the older Birimian Group meta-sedimentary rocks (see appended drill hole maps).
Drilling east of the Road Fault identified a continuous zone of high-grade uranium mineralization with low to moderate silver and moderate to high copper values. The Bodi Upper Zone stretches almost 350 metres from near surface in the northwest up toward the plateau to DF-668. The zone reaches almost 200 metres across with an average thickness of 0.91 metres. Eighteen drill holes intersected U3O8 grades greater than 0.11% over true thicknesses ranging from 0.37 metres to 4.03 metres.
Bodi West
The Bodi drill program started on the west side of the Road Fault due to relatively easy access from the main road. Initial drilling there (DF-566, DF-570, and DF-574) intersected significant uranium mineralization, prompting the Company to expand the campaign further to the northwest whilst developing access to the east side of the Road Fault. Previous drilling results, which include 2.02% U3O8, 30.2 g/t Ag, and 1.18% Cu over 0.35 metres in DF-091 and 0.29% U3O8, 12.9 g/t Ag, and 0.06% Cu over 0.91 metres in DF-217, indicate that the zone is open to the north and northwest.
A complete list of drill holes and composite results is appended to this release. Two maps are also appended that shows all drill hole collars and traces with the outcropping host units in contact with the Birimian basement, and mineralized zones defined by U3O8 grade x thickness contours.
2012 Diamond Drill Program
Drilling was suspended for the remainder of the rainy season on July 31st and is scheduled to resume in early October 2012. Rockgate's 2012 drill program utilizes 4 diamond drill rigs, deployed on various priority targets. Top priority is given to targets that can be brought into Measured and Indicated ("M & I) mineral resources quickly for incorporation in ongoing economic studies. Those target areas include:
1. Bodi Area - to confirm and expand near-surface mineralization west of the Road Fault with the aim of identifying potential open pit resources.
2. North Zone South Block - to expand high-grade mineralization in the southeast quadrant of the North Zone further south and southeast and west across the Road Fault.
3. North Zone Western Extension - to convert and expand "Inferred" mineral resources to the west and northwest of the North Zone to an M & I resource category.
Work on a new, updated Mineral Resource Estimate will begin in the next few weeks once all assays for the 2012 program are received. Detailed planning for the Fall 2012 campaign is underway.
Christopher J. Wild, P.Eng., Project Manager for Falea, is the Qualified Person for the Company under NI 43-101. All core samples are cut in half on site and sent to ALS-Chemex in Bamako for direct shipment to ALS-Chemex in Johannesburg, South Africa, for ICP-MS and XRF analysis. The company inserts a standard, blank and requests a duplicate sample be run in every batch of 20 samples. In addition, the lab inserts in-house blanks, standards, and duplicates with each shipment. Data that falls outside the control limits are checked and repeated as necessary.
