Sovereign Lithium, Inc. Announces Results of Gravity Survey on Nevada-Based Big Smoky Valley Lithium Project
22.07.2013 | Business Wire
Sovereign Lithium, Inc. (OTCBB:SRBLD) ("Sovereign Lithium" and/or "the Company") (formerly Great American Energy, Inc.) announces the results of a Gravity Survey (i.e., gravimetric survey) on the Company's 7,680-acre Big Smoky Valley (BSV) Lithium Project. The Gravity Survey is the initial component of Sovereign Liyhium's 2013 exploration program on the BSV property in and around Esmeralda County, Nevada.
A gravity geophysical survey supervised by Hasbrouck Geophysics, Inc. has been completed over the Company’s Great Western Lithium 48 – 160 acre (7,680 acres) placer claims located in Esmeralda County, Nevada. The gravity survey mapped the depth to bedrock and any geological structures favorable to the occurrences of a lithium brine deposit.
A LaCoste & Romberg, Model G gravity meter was utilized for the compilation of the gravity data. A total of 100 separate gravity stations were acquired along ten profiles with a line and station spacing of one kilometer. Station locations were located on a USGS topographic map and staked in the field. Elevations of the individual stations were acquired with a Trimble GeoGH GPS unit and confirmed with elevations from the USGS topographic map. The new gravity data was referenced to the U.S. National Imagery & Mapping Base Station located near the Tonopah, Nevada airport.
The gravity model indicate the presence of a basin that extends over most of the claim block with depths exceeding 500 meters. The defined large catchment basin indicates a geologic structure that has a strong potential for the accumulation of lithium brine from several nearby sources. The defined gravity basin is comprised of two areas of increased bedrock depths separated by a small saddle indicating a large area favorable to the accumulation of lithium bearing brines.
Mr. Hasbrouck recommends: “a controlled-source audio-magnetotellurics/magnetotellurics (CSAMT/MT) survey be conducted in areas selected from the results of the gravity survey.”
Sovereign Lithium's CEO, Felipe Pimienta, commented: "The results of the Big Smoky Valley Project’s Gravity Survey are encouraging and we will follow Mr. Hasbrouck’s recommendation aiming to move to the next step of our 2013 BSV exploration program by this fall."
