KGL Resources Limited Continues to Intercept High Grades at Bellbird
04.08.2014 | ABN Newswire
Brisbane, Australia (ABN Newswire) - KGL Resources Ltd. (ASX:KGL) (OTCMKTS:KGOLF) continues to intercept high grades at Bellbird. The balance of outstanding oxide drilling assay results for Bellbird have now been received and confirm the high grade nature of the mineralisation with significant results including:
- 7m @ 8.22% Cu, 53.1g/t Ag, 0.23g/t Au from 56 m (Hole JOC082)
- 7m @ 6.53% Cu, 49.9g/t Ag, 0.18g/t Au from 63 m (Hole JOC083)
- 8m @ 3.38% Cu, 17.1g/t Ag, 0.11g/t Au from 43 m (Hole JOC 084)
- 5m @ 5.81% Cu, 26.1g/t Ag, 0.26g/t Au from 54 m (Hole JOC085)
- 7m @ 3.92% Cu, 18.8g/t Ag, 0.16g/t Au from 66 m (Hole JOC086)
- 8m @ 5.03% Cu, 15.9g/t Ag, 0.18g/t Au from 31 m (Hole JOC088)
- 5m @ 3.44% Cu, 10.9g/t Ag, 0.91g/t Au from 2 m (Hole JOC017)
The oxide drilling program at Bellbird has shown the mineralisation is high grade and has good width and continuity over a strike length of at least 400m (Figures 1 & 2 in link below). Copper mineralisation at Bellbird extends north where it adjoins the Bellbird North prospect.
Drilling results from the southern end of Bellbird North have intersected narrow zones of zinc and copper mineralisation including
- 2m @ 1.14% Cu, 7.74% Pb, 8.76% Zn, 82.4g/t Ag, 0.19g/t Au from 44 m (Hole JOC119)
- 2m @ 0.15% Cu, 4.02% Pb, 3.19% Zn, 51.9g/t Ag, 0.02g/t Au from 12 m and
- 4m @ 1.9% Cu, 0.47% Pb, 0.71% Zn, 9.5g/t Ag, 0.02g/t Au from 14 m (Hole KJD008)
At Bellbird North both width and grade of zinc mineralisation appears to be increasing from south to north (Figure 3). Previously announced results from the most northerly line of drilling in this program, recorded an intersection in hole JOC126 of 10m @ 0.15% Cu, 2.83% Pb, 7.81% Zn, 44.4g/t Ag, 0.02g/t Au from 46 m including assays of up to 17.3% zinc.
The shallow reverse circulation drilling program was completed in May-June and comprised 177 holes for 9,653m (refer Figure 4). The majority of the holes were drilled at the Marshall-Reward and Bellbird deposits where 59 and 56 holes were drilled respectively. Smaller programs were completed at Cox's Find, Rockface, Green Parrot and at mineralised zones parallel to Marshall-Reward. Holes range from 25m to 100m and were drilled at 10m intervals along traverses spaced at 80m along the deposits.
The drilling program was designed to improve delineation of the oxide, transition and fresh rock boundaries within the regolith profile as part of the planned resource update. Historical drilling of the oxide was not systematic, did not assay for multi elements and importantly did not determine proportions of oxide and sulphide copper ore minerals. At Marshall-Reward and Bellbird chalcopyrite is the dominant copper sulphide mineral. In the oxide and transition zones the chalcopyrite oxidises to copper carbonates (malachite and azurite) with minor bornite.
Simon Milroy, the Managing Director of KGL Resources, commented: "It is great to see more good results from this shallow drilling, further increasing our confidence in the potential of the Bellbird copper deposit. Bellbird North certainly needs additional drilling to chase the zinc mineralisation to the north and down dip where we are encountering the best grades."
Drilling at Bellbird North has intersected massive lead-zinc-copper sulphide mineralisation that is within 10m of the surface and remains open at depth and along strike. The deepest hole at Bellbird North intersected mineralisation at 150m vertical, however, the majority of drilling is less than 100m vertical. This is in comparison to Marshall-Reward where drilling has tested the mineralisation to a vertical depth of 500m.
Planning has commenced for a follow up RC drilling program that will in-fill the high-grade zones of mineralisation at Bellbird and Reward from 80m x 10m to 40m x 10m with the view to further upgrading the resource.
