Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. Amended Revolving Credit Facility to Allow for $200 Million Share Repurchase Program

10.09.2014  |  PR Newswire

CLEVELAND, Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: CLF) announced today that it has successfully negotiated an amendment with the banking group party to its revolving credit facility to allow for the Company to proceed at its discretion with the previously announced share buyback program.

Lourenco Goncalves, Cliffs Chairman, President and CEO, stated, "We are very pleased that our banking partners have worked with us so that we now have the flexibility to invest in our own business and return capital to our shareholders."

Cliffs will be able to buy back its outstanding common shares in the open market or in private negotiated transactions up to a maximum of $200 million dollars. The Company is not obligated to make any purchases and the program may be suspended or discontinued at any time. The authorization is active until December 31, 2015. Among other changes, the amended terms with the banking partners reduce the size of the existing unsecured revolving credit facility to $1.25 billion. The amended facility retains substantial financial flexibility for management to execute its strategy and provides a consistent source of liquidity for the Company.
