Novo Announces High Grade 3-Kg Leachwell Drill and Costean Results from Beatons Creek
20.08.2015 | The Newswire
VANCOUVER, BC / TheNewswire / August 20, 2015 – Novo Resources Corp. (TSX-V: NVO; OTCQX: NSRPF) (“Novo” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce all remaining 3-kg LeachWell results from trenches (costeans) and shallow reverse circulation drill holes at its Beatons Creek gold project near Nullagine, Western Australia (please see results tables at the end of this news release). These results are the final data Novo requires to undertake a resource estimate of a series of shallow, nearly flat-lying, oxidized gold-bearing conglomerate horizons (reefs) being targeted for potential development. Please refer to the Company’s news releases dated February 9, February 26, March 10 and April 9, 2015 for maps showing drill hole locations and a map attached to this news release for new costean sample locations.
The 37 new costean samples come from reefs from various parts of the oxide resource target area and were collected to infill critical gaps in the database (see attached drilling and costean map). The average grade of these new samples is 4.60 gpt Au. To date, Novo has announced 471 costean results, and the average grade for this entire suite is 3.38 gpt Au (please refer to the Company’s news releases dated April 21, April 29 and August 5, 2015 for previous results). Notable results from the newest new batch include 0.8 m @ 10.61 gpt Au from costean BCC15-174, 0.9 m @ 11.88 gpt Au from costean BCC15-179, 0.6 m @ 18.85 gpt Au from costean BCC-181, 0.8 m @ 40.89 gpt Au from costean BCC15-182 and 1.1 m @ 16.49 gpt Au from costean BCC15-198.
New 3-kg LeachWell drill results include 9 m @ 2.74 gpt Au in hole BCRC14-180, 1 m @ 99.53 gpt Au in hole BCRC14-293, 3 m @ 3.65 gpt Au in hole BCRC14-295, 3 m @ 6.56 gpt Au in hole BCRC14-320 and 1 m @ 38.02 gpt Au in hole BCRC14-326. A grade-thickness comparison (interval length x grade) of directly comparable 3-kg and 1-kg LeachWell results from all drill holes shows an overall increase in gold grades of 17% in the 3-kg over the 1-kg results.
“We are pleased to now have in hand all outstanding gold assays needed for our upcoming resource estimate,” commented Dr. Quinton Hennigh, President and CEO of Novo Resources Corp. “We see an impressive 17% improvement in gold grade when comparing 3-kg and 1-kg LeachWell results from our reverse circulation drill holes. Our new costean samples include several high grade results and an average grade of 4.60 gpt Au. Resource estimation is expected to be complete within a month.”
Costean samples were taken using pneumatic hammers from thoroughly oxidized gold-bearing reef material exposed in shallow, approximately one-meter wide trenches dug using an excavator or by hand. Given their large size, these samples are considered bulk samples (45-60 kg). Because costean samples are collected from the top to bottom of a gold-bearing conglomerate horizon over widths of around one meter, they can be considered representative of what is exposed in the trench. The importance of these large samples is discussed in a news release dated April 21, 2015. Novo collected 471 costean samples between October, 2014 and July, 2015.
Novo drilled 327 shallow reverse circulation drill holes in late 2014. Please refer to the Company’s news release dated June 11, 2015 for further detail about reverse circulation drilling at Beatons Creek. In addition, the Company’s news release dated April 21, 2015 provides a comprehensive review of the project and sampling procedures the Company has employed.
Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Costean samples discussed in this news release were collected under the supervision of Dr. Quinton Hennigh, Novo’s Chief Executive Officer, President and Director. Costean samples were submitted to Genalysis Laboratories, Perth, WA for analysis. Preparation entails crushing the entire sample to -2 mm and pulverizing a 9 kg split to P80 -100 microns. A 3 kg split of pulverized material is subjected to the LeachWell technique, an accelerated CN leach (6 hour leach time) then subjected to analysis by mass spectrometry.
Reverse circulation drilling discussed in this news release was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Quinton Hennigh, Novo’s Chief Executive Officer, President and Director. Drill samples were submitted to Genalysis Laboratories, Perth, WA for analysis. Sample weights range from approximately 15-20 kg. Initially, a 1-kg split of raw drill cuttings was taken from each sample interval and subjected to the LeachWell technique, an accelerated CN leach (6 hour leach time). Due to the nuggety nature of gold mineralization at Beatons Creek, all drill samples containing greater than 0.15 gpt Au were subjected to LeachWell analysis using a 3-kg split and analysis by mass spectrometry.
Dr. Quinton Hennigh, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, President and Director and a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, has approved the technical contents of this news release.
