Anthem Files Claim Against Province of British Columbia Seeking Damages for Expropriation of Uranium Interests
07.03.2014 | Marketwired
VANCOUVER, Mar 7, 2014 - Anthem Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:AYN) (OTCQX:VAERF) ("Anthem" or the "Company") reports that it filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against the Province of British Columbia (the "Province of B.C.").
The statement of claim alleges that the Province of B.C. has prevented the Company from exploring for, developing or producing uranium and thorium from its interests in the Blizzard Claims and the KET/REN Claims by imposing a Uranium and Thorium Reserve under the Mineral Tenure Act on April 24th, 2008, and in prohibiting the issuance of permits for uranium and thorium exploration by the Chief Inspector of Mines under the Mines Act by Order in Council #208 on March 12, 2009.
The statement of claim seeks damages and/or compensation for the de facto expropriation or taking or extinguishing its rights, title and interests of the Blizzard and KET/REN Claims, for expenses incurred in relation to the Claims and thrown away as a result of the expropriation, for disturbance to the Company's business in relation to the Claims as a result of the expropriation, costs and interest, and such further and other relief as to the Court may seem just.
The Company has been trying in good faith to settle this matter with the BC Government for several years without any progress. Given that the time limit for such a suit was approaching, the Company believed it prudent to file this claim.
The full statement of claim is available under the Company's profile at www.sedar.com and on the Company website at www.anthemresourcesinc.com.
