Sayona Mining Ltd.: Large Strike Length Spodumene Pegmatite Discovered at Mallina

Brisbane - Sayona Mining Ltd. (ASX:SYA) (OTCMKTS:DMNXF) ("Sayona" or the "Company") is pleased to report the discovery of a significant zone of spodumene-bearing pegmatite in the eastern area of the Mallina project, in the Pilgangoora district of Western Australia (see Figure 1 in the link below).Highlights
- New zone of spodumene pegmatites discovered, with main body outcropping along 1300 metres in strike extent
- Widths up to 20 metres observed on surface, true thickness unknown. Spodumene observed along the total strike length
- The new area is located 5 kilometres east of the Discovery pegmatite swarm that has returned rock chip grades up to 3.47% Li2O
- Exploration and permitting being fast-tracked to allow drill testing
Spodumene mineralisation is observed along all parts of a pegmatite body which intermittently outcrops along a 1.3 kilometre strike extent (see Figures 2 and 3 in the link below). Widths at surface vary from 3 to 10 metres in the northern and central zones, and up to 20 metres in the southern 200 metres of the pegmatite (see Figure 4 in the link below). Portions of the target are covered by colluvium, and have poor outcrop and the contact with surrounding stratigraphy is rarely visible, so the true width or thickness of the mineralisation is not known. Observations provide encouragement that the pegmatite has the potential to host significant mineralisation.
Two other separate pegmatites, also with observed spodumene mineralisation, have been identified in the new area, providing encouragement that the eastern 25km2 portion of the tenement has very high prospectivity for additional discoveries. Statutory requirements are being undertaken to allow rapid drill testing of the pegmatite. Initial rock chip samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing.
The Mallina project, located in the world-class Pilgangoora lithium district of Western Australia, hosts albite-spodumene pegmatite mineralisation (see Figure 5 in the link below). Five spodumene pegmatites within the initial western area of the Mallina project area have already been identified, with grades up to 3.47% Li2O in assays.
