Geophysical Surveying Commences at Tri Origin's South Abitibi Gold & Base Metal Project

25.10.2017  |  The Newswire
October 25, 2017 - Tri Origin Exploration Ltd. (TSX-V:TOE) ("Tri Origin" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that a program of line cutting, induced polarization ("IP") geophysical surveying and additional prospecting is commencing at Target Area-2 ("TA-2"). TA-2 represents a portion of the Company's large property holding along the south margin of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in the Cobalt-Temagami region of Ontario. This work is conducted on behalf of a gold and base metal exploration Alliance entered into between Tri Origin and Sumitomo Metal Mining Canada Ltd. ("Sumitomo").

IP surveying will be conducted along 15 kilometres of cut line to delineate prospective drill targets. This work was approved by the Alliance to follow-up on successful results obtained during a recently completed program of geological mapping, prospecting and sampling at TA-2. Selected gold occurrences identified during the past program (Tri Origin news release August 16, 2017) will be the focus of the geophysical surveying and additional prospecting.

TA-2 covers a 15 kilometre long trend of poorly mapped, prospective volcanic rocks of the southern Abitibi greenstone belt. Approximately 50% of this area is covered by younger sedimentary rocks of Proterozoic age. The exposed part of the Abitibi contains mineral occurrences of gold, copper and nickel. Occurrences of gold, copper and cobalt have been identified in the Proterozoic cover rocks. Most of these occurrences have only received a cursory amount of surface prospecting. The extensions of the metalliferous Abitibi Greenstone Belt under Proterozoic cover represent high-priority target areas.

It is anticipated that the current program will be completed by mid-November. Results will be assessed to delineate and prioritize anomalies for diamond drilling. Shareholders will be informed of the plans for follow-up drilling on approval by the Alliance management committee.

Sumitomo is funding Alliance activities to a maximum total expenditure of C$4.5 million. The current field work comprises a portion of a 2017 work program that has a pre-drilling budget of $424,000. Alliance activities within the southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt provide a fully-funded opportunity for Tri Origin to capitalize on its strategy of identifying and acquiring prospective, district-scale properties in well-mineralized mining areas and advancing these properties toward making new discoveries.

Tri Origin is pleased to participate with Sumitomo in its mineral exploration efforts and values Sumitomo's contributions to this Alliance. Sumitomo's parent company is a Japanese firm engaged in gold and base metals mining, smelting and refining, manufacturing of semiconductor and advanced materials and other business.
