Geophysical Surveying Completed at Tri Origin's South Abitibi Gold & Base Metal Project
A total of 15 kilometres of IP surveying was completed using a combination of "deep-looking" pole-dipole and dipole-dipole methods. Survey lines covered areas with gold occurrences or sulphide-bearing and altered rock prospective for hosting gold deposits that were identified during a recently completed program of geological mapping and prospecting. A number of geophysical anomalies were identified during the survey. They are being assessed and modelled to delineate drill targets.
When geophysical results have been evaluated the Alliance will consider a budget to complete a follow-up diamond drill program. It is anticipated that a drilling program, if approved, will be commenced during early 2018. Shareholders will be informed of the plans for follow-up drilling on approval by the Alliance management committee.
TA-2 covers a 15 kilometre long trend of poorly mapped, prospective volcanic rocks of the southern Abitibi greenstone belt. Approximately 50% of this area is covered by younger sedimentary rocks of Proterozoic age. The exposed part of the Abitibi contains mineral occurrences of gold, copper and nickel. Occurrences of gold, copper and cobalt have been identified in the Proterozoic cover rocks. Most of these mineral occurrences have only received a cursory amount of surface prospecting. The extensions of the metalliferous Abitibi Greenstone Belt under Proterozoic cover represent high-priority target areas.
Sumitomo is funding Alliance activities to a maximum total expenditure of C$4.5 million. Alliance activities within the southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt provide a fully-funded opportunity for Tri Origin to capitalize on its strategy of identifying and acquiring prospective, district-scale properties in well-mineralized mining areas and advancing these properties toward making new discoveries.
Tri Origin is pleased to participate with Sumitomo in its mineral exploration efforts and values Sumitomo's contributions to this Alliance. Sumitomo's parent company is a Japanese firm engaged in gold and base metals mining, smelting and refining, manufacturing of semiconductor and advanced materials and other business.
